The Ordinary’s Retinol Serum 1% in Squalane is a water-free, multi-purpose solution formulated to reduce the appearance of pores, dark spots and fine lines, and improve the overall appearance of skin’s texture.
Enriched with a 1% concentration of the anti-ageing powerhouse retinol, which is a derivative of vitamin A, the lightweight serum delivers visible plumping and firming effects to your skin. Another key antioxidant ingredient, squalane, protects against UV damage and helps to minimise the risk of sun-induced age spots, leaving you with a more even-looking skin tone.

- When to Use: After water-based serums but before heavier treatments.
- Application: Apply a small amount to the face as part of your evening skincare regimen. Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Please note: Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Sun protection is particularly important when using retinoids. This product must not be used in conjunction with other retinoids including retinol or retinoic acid. This product is not a treatment for acne. Acne-prone skin may experience a temporary increase in acne during the first few weeks of using any form of retinoid including those used in this formulation.

Good serum for problem skin
I have been using products with retinol for 3 years. I have a problem skin. Retinol helps me be beautiful. This serum has a good price and improves my appearance. But there is one disadvantage. This serum contains oil. It may be not useful for a problem skin.

Good for other uses
I have oily, acne-prone skin, and this is too strong for my face/neck. If you are using it that way, I would make sure you leave a 5-10 minute window after any other products before you apply, so your skin is completely dry. Do not apply to damp skin! I now keep this in my bedroom. Now and then before I go to sleep I will add a few drops to some hand cream and massage into my hands. It's great for getting rid of rough patches and smoothing the skin. You could probably also mix it with a moisturiser and apply it to rough or bumpy skin or even feet before going to sleep.

I am a long term user of retinols & this one doesn’t disappoint. It is very oily so best applied half an hour before bed to allow it to sink in. I haven’t found it irritating in anyway. For such a reasonable price this is a great retinol.
