The powder is designed to be mixed with water-based skincare products, quickly dissolving to create an undetectable, smooth texture. The formula offers more direct exposure to Niacinamide than that of the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum, offering a DIY experience for custom, personalised usage. Combine with non-conflicting skincare products to address multiple skin concerns at once.
Caution: We do not recommend combining Niacinamide with topical Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid, Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid and Vitamin C derivatives) in the same regimen. If Vitamin C is used as part of your skincare regimen, we advise to apply them at alternate times with this formula (ideally Vitamin C in the PM and this formula in the AM). In addition, we do not recommend dissolving Niacinamide Powder in Direct Acids. Please refer to the brand’s Mixing Guide for guidance in selecting suitable dissolving bases.
Mix a quarter scoop of the spoon provided with a water-based treatment in the palm of your hand and apply to the face in the morning and/or evening. Avoid contact with eyes, if contact occurs rinse thoroughly with water. Wash hands after handling. Do not mix with formulations with a pH of 5 or lower. If irritation occurs, rinse off, cease use, and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. In its truest form, Niacinamide is readily water-soluble and dissolves in water-based products, such as serums and creams, with ease. The Ordinary’s 100% Niacinamide Powder can be mixed into any non-conflicting, water-based treatment, provided that the pH of the base is between 5.1 and 7.0. When it comes to the choice of a water-based base to mix with this formula, there are several options available within The Ordinary brand. These include the following:
- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
- Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
- “Buffet” + Copper Peptides 1%
- Matrixyl 10% + HA
- Argireline Solution 10%

If you remember to mix it, I just keep forgetting and then it doesn't mix well with some serums and creams. But if you find the right combo, and you don't use to much thinking it will give you better results, it doesn't and it makes your serum or cream sticky if you do. So I can't really say if I got the results tbh.

Great if you know what you’re doing
I love niacinamide for my combination, rosacea-prone skin, and I was excited to see it available in pure form. As others have said, it works brilliantly mixed with a hyaluronic serum, and I’ve been having great results on scarring/dark spots by mixing this with my watered-down bakuchiol serum (Boots Botanics one) 3-4x a week. I even experimented with using it as a fixing powder over my foundation, inspired by my usual loose powder from Revolution, which has niacinamide in it - it wasn’t bad actually, but I think I’ll stick to using it with serum, lol! The only potential downside of this product is that you can religiously follow the instructions and/or check The Ordinary’s website/YouTube influencers etc for guidance on using it, but theoretically, someone could mix up tablespoons of the stuff - thinking “more is more” - and hugely damage or irritate their skin as a result. I know other products are likely more dangerous in that respect (the Ordinary AHA/BHA peeling solution, I’m looking atchoo) but it’s the single negative thing that occurred to me!
