Update on new formula review
I'd previously left a 3 star review based on the new formula after a couple of uses but have come back to downgrade my review to one star. Annoyingly I can't update/edit my 1st review so am having to create a new one. After using this shampoo and conditioner for a couple of weeks it is actually terrible. It has made my hair straw like and dried my scalp out causing it to flake and have that awful crawling feeling it's so dry and itchy. Also it has caused my hair to fall out when washing! With the other formula I'd get approx 6-7 hairs fall - which when compared with sulfate shampoos etc is amazing. Brushing through after washing my hair with this new formula I found my hair brush would be full of my hair in a thick matted mess - awful! Needless to say I've stopped using it. Really disappointed as have loved sukin products and the discontinued protein formula in the purple bottles was brilliant. Now am having to find a new sulfate and silicone free brand😡

New Formula
I've used Sukin Protein shampoo and conditioner for years and loved it - no silicones, sulphates, parabens *and* for fine hair? - it ticked all the boxes. That said I've always wished they'd combine the thickening formula with a volumising one, too - as fine hair gets into a habit of being weighed down. For that reason I was really excited to try the new formula to see if they'd managed it. Pros: The new formula is a lot thinner than the previous formula, which makes me think it's not as concentrated, but it works through the hair much better than before and it doesn't seem to have affected the cleaning performance. After using it a few times, my hair does have a lot more movement in it and doesn't seem as weighed down, which I sometimes used to get with the other formula and my hair still feels like it has body to it. Cons: It still has rice protein to strengthen and thicken the hair, but they've taken out the wheat protein and a lot of the other natural ingredients. That might be because they have the effect of weighing the hair down, but it does feel like they've literally halved the ingredients that went into the previous formula. The fragrance is also not that pleasant - it smell like mouldy paint if I'm honest, whereas the other one smelled really nice - like chocolate orange. I will probably continue to buy it as it seems to do the job, but it does feel like you're getting a lot less in terms of ingredients for the same price. Also, they could do to sort the fragrance out as it really isn't the best!
