It does make olaplex 3 more powerful
I have noticed quite a difference when I use this prior to using the olaplex 3. I’ll purchase it every few months or so and it will last me for around 3 applications, I do have very long hair. It does make a big difference to my hair texture and makes it feel a lot softer.

Is it necessary?
I didn't feel like this made any difference to the effects of Olaplex 3. It says to use it on dry hair and use enough so that your hair is just damp. For me that meant using a third of the bottle which makes it very very expensive to use. I don't think it's necessary you can just apply olaplex 3 onto hair that has been dampened with water so I won't be repurchasing
