I am very pleased with these straighteners. They heat up very quickly and play a sound when you turn them on and off, and when they have heated up. The silicone sleeve is also handy and stops the straighteners from burning a surface. An all round good buy.

I purchased these GHD's as my old wider plates GHD's had given up after almost 10 years I have very thick frizzy hair which gets highlighted every 8 weeks . I thought I would spend the extra on the platinum GHD's as I was hooked on the claims that these are GHD's best ever straighteners with tri-zone technology which supposedly glide through the hair easily leaving it silky smooth after just one stroke and it is much less damaging to the hair. The very first time I tried them I was fairly dissapointed as I found I kept having to repeat sections of hair over and over again to get it straight and frizz free. It took me much longer to straighten my hair than it did with my old GHD's I was tempted to send them back. Before returning them I thought I would give them one more try.. The second time I used them I had more success and they did leave my hair silky smooth on the second attempt .. I now think I was just using the wrong technique the first time ... I've now realised you get a much better result if you glide the straighteners very slowly through my thick hair.. The also work extremely well on second day hair The reason I'm awarding these 4 stars is they claim so straighten your hair at a consistent temperature throughout . I did not find this.. Sometimes the straighteners felt hotter at times leaving little puffs of steam ( this is on bone dry hair) other times I found I would have to go over a sction again as the first time the plates didn't feel hot enough ... Again this could just be down to my technique but due to them having such a hefty price tag I was hoping for just a bit more. Otherwise good straighteners and I'm in no doubt they will work great on hair that's not as hard to control as mine.
